What attracted you to join Aon?
I joined Aon Hewitt’s Talent Team in September 2015. After university I knew I wanted a client-facing role in a sector of business focusing on people and people skills. I had done internships in HR but learned from them that I wanted a more external facing and fast-paced role in a consulting space.
I also wanted to be able to utilise my French, which has worked perfectly as many of our clients have their headquarters in France. More generally Aon attracted me as a global company that works across many industries and therefore offers candidates high potential for growth and development.
What does a typical day look like for you?
On a typical day in my role I spend around 2-3 hours in direct contact with the client. We offer clients a wide range of products: engagement surveys, personality assessments, 360 feedback tools, workshops and more, so the conversations I have are wide ranging but always geared towards meeting the client’s needs as far as possible.
I would also usually spend time on project organisation and implementation, as well as having internal meetings with my colleagues to make sure all of our projects are on track.
How have you been supported?
Within the Talent Team there is no formal qualification that is supported by Aon. However I have had a mentor and a buddy since I arrived who have provided me with a great support system. My team are fantastic and I really feel I can ask any question of them (no matter how silly it may appear to me!) and line managers also offer valuable support. Finally by joining as a graduate you will automatically be part of the graduate network, able to communicate and develop relationships with around 70 others who will be going through the same programme as you.
