Private and public organisations are tasked with navigating an increasingly complex environment. As unpredictability continues to cloud the business horizon, the challenges posed by risk have never been more apparent. Health epidemics are at this moment, sending shockwaves through the very foundations of our business and society. Cyber threats are silently infiltrating our information technology systems. Climate change is transforming what consumers and regulators demand of companies. Internationally, geopolitical tensions, populist forces, terrorism and escalating trade wars have distorted the once calm waters within which multinationals once conducted their operations. Corporate reputations have never been so precious or precarious, and a single judgemental error on social media can significantly increase the probability of a corporate crisis.
We experience risk in our day to day lives and we deal with this in every decision that we make. When dealing with more complex and long term risks, achieving success requires more sophisticated risk assessment and decision processes for both individuals and organisations. This includes decisions around the values we hold, our aim and objectives, our practices and how much time and resources we invest in achieving our aim. The path to risk resilience is as exciting as it is complex and requires a new generation of skilled risk managers to lead the way.
Our risk management programmes provide a breadth of contemporary knowledge of risk in business and society. This includes crisis management, cyber risk, contemporary insurance practices, business continuity management, strategic and project risk management and managing risk in a global context. The goal of achieving organisational resilience underpins all of these disciplines. You will explore state-of-the-art risk management processes including the identification of organisational risk, analysis and modelling of the likely effect of those risks, design and selection of control measures and the monitoring and evaluation of these measures. This holistic approach to risk management means you will develop the skills which allow you to enter any industry sector following graduation.
Whatever stage you’re at in your education, our Risk Management courses will offer you the right level of study to further your chosen career. We offer multiple entry points (1st and 3rd year) at undergraduate level and full or part time study at MSc level via. on-campus or online learning.
