Why did you join the graduate programme?

The Aon Graduate programme provides you with so many potential career paths; I believed it was a great place to start my career, with opportunities throughout financial services not only insurance. When I chose to join, in my opinion Aon was the market leader for Insurance and Reinsurance with global influence and following the merger with WTW, Aon will also have the Largest market share. I believed the graduate programme would give me a great insight into the industry, a high level of training and help me shape my career. The programme exposes you to senior leaders; giving you an opportunity to show your skills and ability.

What do you enjoy most about working for Aon?

The Colleagues that I have within my team create a great atmosphere in the office/ virtual workplace. They are kind and good fun; whilst being happy to help you with any questions you may have. Initially they are keen to train you up to a certain knowledge base, then once you prove your competence and your colleagues trust in your ability, they are happy to expose you both clients and to underwriters. The work is challenging but there is an enjoyable social culture amongst colleagues and clients.

What advice would you give future graduates applying for the programme?

I think it is important for graduates to understand the insurance industry and have a good knowledge of how it works; this will only impress people who interview you. If you do get the opportunity to join Aon, immerse yourself in all the role has to offer and do not be fearful of moving between departments; make the most of the opportunity you have made for yourself!

What’s next for you?

I am finishing my rotation within the Japan team before I head to the Retro team. I am looking forward to a new challenge with an opportunity to improve technical skills and knowledge before returning to the Japan team. Over the next few years I would hope to improve my technical knowledge and ability whilst becoming a key and valued member of the team. Furthermore, I hope I can establish my broking style in the market, forming strong relationships with both colleagues and clients.
