Why did you join Aon’s graduate programme?

I believed that joining Aon’s graduate programme will be a unique opportunity for me to undertake various challenging, client and market-facing responsibilities where I can learn from industry experts in completing different rotations. I was also pleased to know that Aon will be supporting my career by enrolling me onto the ACII qualification and hosting workshops. I was therefore looking forward to building key relationships, gaining specialist knowledge and making an impact in shaping the future of Aon.

What did you enjoy most about the Aon graduate programme?

I particularly liked that the programme is made up of a diverse and large cohort. This enabled me to create my own network at the start of my career at Aon as we have attended away days and completed team projects.

Also, rotating has given me great exposure into the GBC Executive Team, Structured Portfolio Solutions and now Energy. In these roles, I have undertaken impactful responsibilities like engaging with retail brokers, Underwriters, resolving complex queries with my team and much more.

Finally, being paired with a mentor was essential in being able to ask questions and receive their honest and invaluable advice to aid my career journey.

How you would describe the culture at Aon?

Aon is passionate about career development as I’ve experienced of this through attending ACII workshops, Q&A/mentoring sessions and training in my team, which portrays my constant learning in various forms. I also find that Aon encourages cross-team collaboration where I have completed tasks with colleagues outside my team and my input was valued during meetings.

Colleagues also enjoy learning from each other through town halls and demonstrate an inclusive culture where colleagues are keen to discuss their career journey and provide insight and advice to queries. In essence, it’s very rare to turn down a coffee catch up!

What’s next for you?

I look forward to progressing in my career at Aon as I continue working towards my ACII qualification, taking on new challenges, travel opportunities and enhanced responsibility in my role. I will also seek to grow my network in various ways by undertaking proactive roles in Aon’s network groups, volunteering for charities and assisting those who are looking to start their career in Insurance. I will finally keep being curious about the insurance industry by attending workshops and events to enhance my commercial awareness of the Industry.
