New research from High Fliers indicates that 2014 will host the strongest graduate jobs market since the onset of the recession.
Many of the UK’s largest employers, including Google, British Airways and John Lewis, are getting set to fill a total of 18,264 graduate jobs in 2014, an increase of 8.7% compared with 2012.
Should these targets be met, it would represent the highest level of graduate recruitment since 2007, and the biggest year-on-year upswing in graduate jobs since 2010.
Martin Birchall, managing director of High Fliers Research, said that graduate job prospects were the best they had been since the start of the recession.
Nevertheless, a 9% increase in the volume of graduate job applications since the beginning of the academic year means that competition remains fierce.
