New figures are reporting more than 4,700 unfilled jobs in East London’s Tech City, with the number set to rise over the coming years.
Technology job vacancies have increased by 44% since 2012, with software developers proving to be the most in-demand IT graduate job role.
James Haycock, Managing Director of product development firm Adaptive Lab, has admitted to ‘constantly hiring’ to stay competitive with the accrual of IT graduates by banks.
‘One hundred yards down the road you’ve got banks which are paying 50% more, and there’s actually not that many people who are great.
‘The problem lies in the graduate IT market. British employers are often looking for candidates with specific coding skillsets – SQL, Ruby, HTML, Python – and are hesitant to take on new graduates without work experience in these areas,’ he said.
