According to the latest survey from Robert Half, 41% of employers value commercial and business acumen as the most important attribute in candidates for accounting jobs.
Business growth and new product and service expansion in the accountancy profession now require commercial accountants with strong business acumen and communication skills.
200 UK CFOs and Financial Directors were surveyed, finding the most valued attributes in addition to traditional accounting knowledge to be:
- Commercial/business acumen
- Technology skills
- Team building/collaboration
- Communication skills
- Leadership ability
- Customer service skills.
