Asda announced today that it is to launch a three-year undergraduate degree programme at Middlesex University.

Thirty staff, who have worked at Asda for six months or more, will be eligible to study a degree in distribution or retail operations, entirely funded by Asda.

Hayley Tatum, Executive People Director at Asda, said: ‘By providing the opportunity to study for a degree, we hope that we can open more doors for colleagues, developing their skills for the future.’

Neil Carberry, Director of Employment and Skills at The Confederation of British Industry, commented: ‘It sends a clear message that major employers should work with universities to give staff top-level skills for their whole career, not just their current job.’
