Vacancies for graduate jobs at the UK’s 100 leading graduate recruiters are at the highest point since 2008, according to High Fliers Research.
There are 4.6% more graduate jobs at these major employers than in 2012, yet there is still an average of 46 applications for every graduate job in 2013.
The 100 leading graduate recruiters were identified by a poll of 18,000 final year students at 30 selected universities, who were asked to name the employers with the best graduate career opportunities.
Martin Birchall of High Fliers expects the availability of graduate jobs to continue to rise into next year.
‘Many of the country’s best-known organisations are set to expand their graduate vacancies even further in 2014,’ he said.
People from poorer backgrounds are also likely to have more success in obtaining graduate jobs in 2014, with one in six of the firms declaring their intentions to set social mobility targets for graduate recruitment.
