Marks and Spencer (M&S) announced today that it is building a distribution centre in the new London Gateway port.
700 new jobs will be created, in addition to the hundreds who will be employed to construct the site.
Marc Bolland, chief executive of M&S said “London Gateway will become our third largest distribution centre in the UK as we transform our logistics operations into a modern and agile supply chain, fit for the future of M&S.”
The location will improve efficiency as it is nearer to M&S stores and international markets, consequently this will reduce costs by shortening the supply chain.
