Lloyd’s of London has launched an apprenticeship programme to allocate school leavers in London jobs in finance.
The apprenticeship programme is aimed at students who want to begin careers in finance straight after their A-Levels.
Lasting 18 months, the Lloyd’s of London Apprenticeship Programme will recruit 12 school leavers from the boroughs surrounding the City of London. Apprentices will gain the opportunity to experience several components of insurance careers, including placements in underwriting, broking and claims management.
Lloyd’s CEO Richard Ward said: ‘As Lloyd’s looks to cement its position as the global centre for specialist insurance and reinsurance, it is vital that we bring the best talent available into the market. Our new Apprenticeship Programme demonstrates our commitment to doing just that.’
Apprentices will receive a starting salary of £16,000, and train towards a professional qualification with the Chartered Insurance Institute. The deadline for applications to the Lloyd’s Apprenticeship Programme is 31 May 2013.
