BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, are once again running their ‘The Graduate’ event to help graduates work on their ‘soft skills’ and get ahead in the interview process for their future jobs.
Run by the West Yorkshire Branch of the BCS, the experience is win-win for graduates as you will be given the chance to practice your interview techniques. You will also be given the chance to practice a range of exercises that commonly crop up during the application process for IT careers.
Now in its third year, The Graduate is a mock recruitment event. Not only are the winners rewarded with a range of prizes, all those taking part are given the chance to receive valuable feedback.
Stage 1: The application
Designed to be like a job application form with competency based questions.
Stage 2: The Assessment Centre
Candidates who are selected from the first stage are sent invites to the assessment centre stage where they will get first hand experience of an assessment centre. This could include group exercises, competency-based interviews and psychometric testing.
Stage 3: The Final
All candidates who have taken part in the assessment centre will be invited for an overnight stay at a hotel where the Awards Ceremony will be held. The winner and runners up will be announced and prizes presented.
If you are currently studying or have just finished an IT-related degree you are eligible to apply for the event. Head over to the BCS The Graduate page to apply.
The application deadline is April 29 and the event itself will be held on 3 June 2013.
