200 different jobs have been rated on various factors in a recent study to find the best and worst jobs in 2012.
Jobs were scored on the basis of five key categories: work environment, physical demands, pay, stress, and hiring outlook. When all of these scores were added, it was concluded that being an actuary was the second best job in the world!
Rated only under software engineer, it was the brighter outlook for hiring compared to other financial professionals, such as accountants, that put actuaries over the top. In today’s difficult economic climate, a job with as good prospects and job security as being an actuary is hard to come by. This factor, when combined with excellent pay associated with working in the finance sector, but without the high-stress environment, creates a very compelling reason to join the profession.
